For a decade HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) technology has emerged as a top choice for truly tightening loose skin with a minimal side effect profile. The results of HIFU applications are impressive and long-lasting, while no long recovery is required.
TECHNOLOGY
With the HIFU system the ultrasound energy penetrates the epidermis without affecting the external structures and reaches the deeper layers of the skin, where it achieves an increase in the temperature of the target tissue up to 65°C. Local thermal coagulation leads to contraction and remodeling of new tissue resulting in the lifting and tightening of loose skin thanks to the strengthening of existing collagen and of course the production of new.
HIFU devices equipped with visualization systems (live ultrasound display) are technologically and therapeutically superior, as they provide real-time visualization of the treatment depth (e.g. the Hironic Doublo system) and capture in detail the anatomical features of the face, i.e. the skin, dermis, subcutaneous fat, SMAS (superficial musculo-aponeurotic system), muscles and bones. They are more technologically complex devices and are preferred by dermatologists who apply HIFU treatments themselves. By using the live ultrasound screen, nerve injury is avoided, hyaluronic acid deposition sites are identified, the application of straightening threads is visualized, complications of previous treatments are mapped, such as granulomas or asymmetries, making the whole process extremely safe and completely controllable.
The treatment is extremely well tolerated when performed by experienced clinical hands and the patient can immediately return to their activities. It is applied all year round, regardless of sun exposure or skin color, and is a monotherapy when applied with a quality medical device of original technology. HIFU technology excels, as it gives immediately visible tightening with naturalness in the result, and is an ideal solution for those who avoid needle treatments, while it works in addition to well-known and loved treatments, such as botulinum toxins, hyaluronic acid wrinkle filling, chemical peels, threads straightening, radio frequencies, etc.
An exception is the combination of an injectable hydroxyapatite implant with HIFU, as a recent clinical study has shown that it is not superior to HIFU monotherapy. As with any treatment, it is good before proceeding with it to find out from our doctor about the type of machine and any complications that may occur, as well as to inform him honestly about previous aesthetic interventions on our face.
